Dear Valued Customers,

We are pleased to announce a significant update to our flight operations effective from 10 June 2024. To assist the travelling public and support essential travel needs in and out of remote communities, we are removing the fuel surcharge for bookings on our shuttle flights for individual travellers.

All our MAF bases, our central booking centre as well as our MAF agents in the remote communities will quote you the air fares as per 1 January 2024.

This change in our seat fare pricing aims to make MAF's air service more affordable again so people from isolated communities can access health, education and admin services in their district centres and provinces, or church workers are able to do their outreaches in remote locations.

However, please note that charter rates will continue to have the 15% fuel surcharge due to the increased cost of supplies.

The overall fuel supply challenges in Papua New Guinea remain unresolved, necessitating the continued application of this surcharge for MAF’s charter services.

This adjustment is part of our ongoing efforts to minimise the impact of the aviation fuel shortage on our customers. We remain committed to sourcing alternative fuel supplies and exploring cost-effective solutions to alleviate these issues.

Our dedication to providing medical evacuations, and transporting health and educational supplies as well as church and mission personnel to isolated villages remains.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these challenges. Your prayers for a swift and sustainable resolution to the fuel shortage are greatly valued, particularly for the remote communities relying on MAF’s air service.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,

the Management of MAF PNG
