In remote communities across Papua New Guinea, both young and old are finding the MAF-distributed King bilong Glori book helpful to strengthen their faith.

“The books were so well received that we quickly ran out of the supply that we had,” said Glenys Watson, an MAF pilot based in PNG.

In 2023, MAF began receiving King bilong Glori (King of Glory) Bible overview books, as part of the MAF Technologies ministry. Pilots like Glenys carry them in ‘Bible Boxes’ on most flights, alongside English and Tok Pisin Bibles, Bible comics, audio Bibles, and other resources. These items are sold at a great discount to make them affordable for people in remote areas.

Glenys regularly flies to dozens of airstrips across the nation, carrying the Bible Box to places such as the tiny mountainside community Sikoi.

Jonathan Meweh is a young resident of this roadless village, working as a carpenter on a school building project. With only two churches offering irregular services, Jonathan knows how vital these books are.

“I worship but I don’t really know the Bible, but I am learning more about God through this book. This book is very simple, though I have not completed my education, the English is clear, and I can relate to the illustration and the message,” he said.

Glenys has been in regular contact with Tom Leger of ROCK International to secure these books.

King bilong Glori is the Tok Pisin language version of the King of Glory book in English,” Tom said. “Created in 70 scenes of picture next to text, the book tells the story of the Creator-Owner of the universe and His plan to rescue His rebellious subjects from the kingdom of darkness.

“ROCK International is the ministry with the vision to produce this gospel tool to clarify God’s story and message for the people of PNG.

“Our goal is to spread the books out over the four corners of PNG. We know that these books have reached at least 21 of the 22 provinces so far,” Tom added.

In Western Province, English is more widely spoken than Tok Pisin. Here, English editions are much more popular, especially among school children who read English.

“These books are for schools and those who need English to teach the Bible,” Tom said.

Due to the book’s popularity, the 2024 supplies were completely exhausted and new orders were being filled last year.

“Approximately 60,000 books have gone out over the last three years within PNG,” Tom added. “But with a population of 10 million, we know the need is still great.”

“Last year, I planned and sent 400 directly to Balimo,” said Glenys. “I kept 80 in Goroka for our Bible Boxes here. I arranged for the remaining 240 to be sent to Hagen. Then from each base, pilots have ordered.”

For 2025 alone, MAF received around 3800 books in total, with 800 English versions put in Goroka, and the Tok Pisin copies were received in May or June. As of early 2026, the books have not run out yet and our pilots are still delivering them.

MAF’s aim is to reach those who are unable to access basic services throughout PNG – and this fits well with Tom’s focus.

“His aim is for these books to be distributed throughout PNG, and we are a perfect fit for getting them out into a large proportion of the rural population,” Glenys said.

Through MAF’s Bible Box ministry, these books continue to reach isolated communities, bringing hope and God’s Word where it’s needed most. The partnership with ROCK International aims to expand this outreach across PNG’s diverse provinces.
